On October 12, 2000 the USS Cole was attacked by Al-Qaeda. The terrorist group considered it a successful
mission because then President Bill Clinton used minimal force in striking back against them.
Seventeen sailors lost their life that day. The masterminds were captured by Yemen but then later freed. It wasn’t until 2002, that the mastermind was caught and sent to Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba. Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri will likely die one day by death penalty for his role in the bombing after a military tribunal is performed. One of the men associated with the USS Cole bombing is Mashur Abdallah Ahmed al Sabri. You can read his docket here and his picture is above.
On April 16th, 2016 something happened that should signal President Obama’s true stance of his thoughts on Islamic Jihad terrorism. The United States military under the command of President Obama released al Sabri. Here is more from FrontPageMag.com:
Sabri was rated as a high risk terrorist who is ”is likely to pose a threat to the US, its interests, and allies”, but that was no obstacle for Obama who had already fired one Secretary of Defense for being slow to free dangerous Al Qaeda terrorists and was browbeating his latest appointee over the same issue.
The very paperwork that was used as the basis for the decision to free Sabri describes him as “a member of a Yemeni al-Qaida cell directly involved with the USS Cole attack”. This cell “conducted surveillance” on the targeted vessel and “prepared explosives for the bombing”. Sabri had been arrested in Yemen for his involvement in the attack before he managed to make his way to Afghanistan.
Now he is a free man and has been sent back to the homeland of terrorism, Saudi Arabia.
President Obama releasing a man who killed U.S. troops is shocking yet not unexpected because of his religious alliance to the Islamic world. What makes this move worrisome in the U.S. security field is how the USS Cole bombing came about. The bombing plan was hatched in the very same room 9/11 was planned during the 2000 Kuala Lumpur al-Qaeda Summit. People in attendance were high-ranking terrorists such as Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and the first two 9/11 hijackers. In fact, those two hijackers left that meeting days later and entered America in January 2000.
President Obama is probably not done. Because if he, as Commander-in-Chief, can easily approve of a terrorist like Mashur Abdallah Ahmed al Sabri then he probably will have no problem letting out another major terrorist player. This being his last months left in office he will be under considerable pressure to deliver a grand prize to the Middle East and other Muslim communities around the world: The Blind Sheikh Omar Abdel-Rahman. Omar currently resides in a federal prison in North Carolina for his role in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. His health is declining and that will be the most logical excuse for releasing him to one Middle Eastern country of origin like Yemen or Iran.
In a speech to supporters in Cairo’s Tahrir Square on 30 June 2012, Mohamed Morsi briefly mentioned that he would work to free Omar Abdel-Rahman, along with other Egyptians who were arrested during the revolution. A Brotherhood spokesperson later said that the extradition was for humanitarian reasons and that Morsi didn’t intend to overturn Abdel-Rahman’s criminal convictions.
The speech above was just weeks before Morsi met with present day Democrat Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Morsi met with her in mid July of that year in America. Surely discussions of the Blind Sheikh was passed along to President Obama.
You maybe asking what makes the Blind Sheikh so important in the muslim world? Andrew McCarthy, former federal prosecutor who helped get the Blind Sheikh convicted, offered this insight in his book “Willful Blindness: A Memoir of a Jihad”:
Never reaching the high station of Grand Imam, Abdel Rahman’s accomplishments did include……the leadership of a vicious Egytian terror organization called Gama’at al Islamia and great influence over the “Arab-Afghans,” who joined the mujahideen resistance against the Soviet invasion in Afghanistan. This led him to be dubbed the “pope of Jihad” by some western investigators.
The Blind Sheikh was undeniably a mufti, a specialist in Islamic law authorized to opine on points of doctrine and to issue fatwas or binding legal opinions.
If President Obama has no reservations in releasing a terrorist who helped kill American soldiers, what’s stopping him from releasing one who killed American citizens?
