Inspector Report: Chicago Public School Administrators Have Stolen Thousands Of Dollars

Unfortunately, residents of Chicago will not do anything about it.

Here’s more from the Chicago Tribune:

It turns out that principals and teachers and other school employees have been ripping the kids off, taking cash intended for students and turning it into good stuff for adults, like electronics and steak and lobster lunches.According to a report by CPS Inspector General Nicholas Schuler’s office, educators “stole or misappropriated” thousands of dollars in school-purchased gift cards that were supposed to be used as incentives for good students and their families.Another educator got a BMW immaculately cleaned and detailed with the kids’ cash, because, well, don’t all property taxpayers who fund the public schools drive BMWs too?One principal ripped off the gifts for students by spending at least $22,000 for personal electronics and groceries.

At one lunch, the principal spent $420 so the teachers could dine on lobster, steaks and “other items.” On another occasion, according to the report, the principal spent $525 in school cash on “lobster, crab, shrimp, salmon and steaks, much of which, but not all, was given to the teachers.”
