The other day I struck up a conversation with my FedEx driver and found out some information about their delivery stops and packages they deal with.Out of curiosity I wanted to know just the amount of volume each driver faces daily. As usual, he was busy and in a rush but provided me glimpse into their delivery world.
Below is paraphrase of our conversation:
-
Some drivers can have 60 stops a day delivering 200 packages. Most of these are business
-
Residential drivers can have 90 stops a day delivering only 100 packages. The good part of this is they just drop and go, no signature required. But, they usually deal with the heavier packages and a lot of stopping.
-
Amazon growth has not made them busier. Loads are just about the same.
-
Really busy days can reach up to 300 packages daily and they still have to fit that into an 8 hour time period
So there you go, an example of what your FedEx delivery person faces on a delivery route daily.
