Indiana Toughening Up Rules on Food Stamp Usage

The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration has announced new rules for food stamp recipients. Here is the link to the government site. I’ll post the breakdown:

FSSA is notifying current SNAP clients between the ages of 18 and 49 who are not disabled and do not have children or other dependents that, starting in July 2015, their benefits will be limited to three months in a 36 month period unless they are:

  • Working an average of 20 hours per week;

  • Participating in the approved employment and training program a minimum of 20 hours per week; or

  • A combination of both
