In May 2014 a mini revolution started by journalist Masih Alinejad on social media that is causing some friction in Iran. Here is a small snippet from Huggington Post:
Through her Facebook community, My Stealthy Freedom, Alinejad has been encouraging Iranian women to post photos of themselves without the mandatory hijab, or veil, to protest the restrictive policies of the Islamic government. Since she started the page in May 2014, it has garnered over 897,000 likes.
The hijab is a piece clothing forced upon millions of women each year in Islamic countries by law that is oppressive in nature. Even in free countries, the husband will force it upon their wives. Women each year face court sanctions, being physically assaulted or worse, killed for not wearing it. Unfortunately, we have a few generations now of people that have been brain washed by the Diversity Industrial Complex in teaching that the hijab represents multiculturalism…..it doesn’t.
I’m going to present a few pieces of history to back up my point. The first piece is a two minute video from 1956. Egyptian President Gamal Adbel Nasser mocking the Muslim Brotherhood on wanting him to implement law on women to wear the hijab:
The next piece of history comes from Iran just days after the revolution in March 1979. New Iranian leadership ordered women must wear a hijab out in public among other opressive laws. An estimated 100,000 women protested the new law(pic down below). Click link here to learn more about this photo exhibit.
It is examples like this of history that needs to be shown more so people don’t lose sight in what really happened. The sad part is if you Google the word “Hijab” and click on the “images” tab, they make the hijab look trendy. The hijab is a trend not needed here in America or even across the world for what it represents.
I’m not calling for a law banning the hijab here in the U.S. The next President needs to start a verbal juedo trend in denouncing the hijab in honor of the millions of women who have been forced into this theological submissive piece of clothing.
You have a very twisted misconception about what Islam and hijab is. Please open your mind and take a moment to hear me out. I don’t wish to insult you in any way, I simply wish to stand for what I believe in ,But may I ask if you have ever actually spoken to a Muslim woman who wears hijab? Well if not I guess this would be your first time.
I’d like to point out it’s so funny to me how people are so quick to refer to the first amendment when it’s regarding freedom of speech, but than freedom of religion is so quickly forgotten. Banning hijab would go against everything this county, MY COUNTRY is supposed to stand for. I live in the states, I wear hijab, I wear burka, am I oppressed? Absolutely not. I know that in many “Islamic” countries it is forced and if woman doesn’t do it they are punished. It’s imperative to understand that these countries DO NOT in shape or form represent or stand for Islam at all. In fact it’s the very opposite of what Islam is. Our God has said not to force Islam on any one, don’t force because than in fact it’s not Islam, it must come from the heart. It is not to be forced rather taught, and what people choose to do after, is between themselves and God. If you take a moment to turn off the tv and speak to some Muslims, and read about Islam you will see how very beautiful hijab is. And you don’t have to agree with my views but I have to emphasize how this idea of denouncing hijab is an insult to America and its value. Many years ago people came to this country in hopes to flee religious persecution and practice their religion freely, let’s not forget that. Thank you for reading, I only wish the hatred be removed from your heart, may you be guided and protected.

Freedom of speech and religion go hand and hand in America. Islam does not get a pass on this nor its members like yourself. The hijab is viewed as oppressive by a majority of the world. Seeing the hijab or burka in public doesn’t relay a message of well being.
You stated that countries that force the hijab onto women are not practicing Islam. Than what are they practicing? Modern day slavery? Will you go public in this message thread and put in writing you are denouncing Iran?

Hijab is not just a piece of clothing it’s much for than that, so much more than that. If you have any more questions you may ask me.

What is the hijab then? Will you post a picture of yourself not wearing it to support the women in Iran who are forced to wear it?

What is hijab? Let me tell you what hijab is, it is not simply covering for our husbands, protecting ourselves from men, it is not to belittle us in a way. It is an act of faith, it is to submit to God and only God. It is so that people may look beyond our body and beauty and see our intellect our mind, our character. It’s not simply covering our heard. It’s in our character, our manners, it humbles us. Islam has told men to lower their gaze REGARDLESS of what a woman is wearing BEFORE it tells us to cover up. How is this not relaying a messaging of well being? Your society tells woman obscenely large breasts and asses are what is “beauty” girls get surgery to alter there bodies to feel beautiful and accepted is this a message of well being?

In a free society, woman can be beautiful in their own ways. Some want cosmetic surgery others want natural looks. I’ve never seen any verses or Commandments from God wanting a hijab or burka on a woman.
You still haven’t accepted my challenge in taking your hijab off to stand up for the woman of Iran.

No I will not take my hijab off are you serious? Hijab is for God and no one else. I will stand up for them why do I need to take it off? It makes no sense.

Your not a serious person in society to speak on rights then. The women I showed in my post would laugh at you.

Lmao unlike you I know what I’m talking about. Those woman are in a horrific situation and I will stand up for their right to not wear hijab or to wear hijab. But I don’t need to disobey my God while doing it. Taking off my hijab to “stand with them” while literally do nothing

One day the Iranian women will be free just like the photo I posted of them and the hijabs they are forced to wear will be in piles going up in flames

You are a very ignorant human being. Did I say they don’t deserve to free? Of course they do. But I will not take my hijab off

Don’t take it off then. But you’re very naive to think western society sees the hijab the way you do.

Hijab is a mark of faith and modesty, how is it any different from a nun? A Jewish women?

Hijab has also been forced upon millions of women by the barrel of a gun or death for not wearing it. I haven’t seen any nuns stoned to death lately. Have you?

Oh my god are you illiterate? For the hundredth time it is not an Islamic practice to stone or kill woman who don’t observe hijab.

And I have a right to criticize the hijab….

But you don’t have a right to suggest to ban or denounce it…..
If you want to denounce it you should denounce you Christian nuns as well and you Orthodox Jew attire. There are Jews and Christians who wear hijab as well

Never said ban, but a verbal denouncing is a protected speech. They wear by choice and not the barrel of a gun or potential harm from the religious community.

You don’t understand how powerful words are, if the president of a very powerful country denounces hijab, than people will see it as a bad thing which its not.. It will add to the growing Islamophobia in this country, how can you be so blind

Islamophobia is a myth. Massive amounts of mosques have been built in this country the last 20 years. American Islamic leaders have habitually denounced America in many forms….Americans can justifiably denounce Islam in its ways as well.

you don’t know anything about Islamophobia is, you have no idea about the amounts of hate crimes committed against Muslims in this country because your media will never consider it newsworthy it will never be breaking news, you have no idea what kind racism Muslims face is this country, how many verbal as well as physical abuses we face. Did you hear about the chapel hill shooting last year, a couple and the wife’s sister shot because they were Muslim? Or peep has the 17 year old boy who was beaten and thrown off a 6ft story building by his classmates left for dead in Seattle? Or just last week the elderly Muslim man who walking his niece home in parckchester Bronx beaten in front of a nine year old? The Muslim owned cafe in California that was vandalized? I can go. It’s a growing problem and because of people like it’s going unnoticed so don’t you dare tell just because mosques are built we don’t face unjust racism. Of course mosques are built, it would be illegal to deny us that right. Islamaphobia is very real open up your eyes

The FBI crime stats show Jews are the most violated people because of their religion each year in the United States. You are not going to get much sympathy with San Bernardino just happening and/or mosques continously pumping out members getting arrested for contact with ISIS or plans to do terrorist acts.

Of course it does, because the hate crimes against go unnoticed, do you think there is proper police investigation is ever done regarding us? We are not going to get any sympathy? All the crimes I told, senseless murders don’t deserve sympathy? You are a very sick human being. Disgusting indeed. Lol mosques continuously pumping out Isis members? Go inside a mosque and see how “violent” and “hateful” you think we are. You’ll be surprised. It’s a religion of peace. Isis is not Islam just as the KKK is not Christian

You are a liar in making the claim law enforcement ignores you. I’ll call you out on that right now. Yes, your mosques overall are horrific in harboring rhetoric against western values and America. Just go on YouTube and look up the crap American Imams say.
I bet 60-70 percent in America easily still preach messages from anwar al-awlaki.

What do you mean Islam does not get a pass on this…. It is my right an American citizen to practice my religion the way I please as long as I’m not harming anyone. LOL are you kidding me it does not relay a message of well being? Dressing to be modest does not relay a message of well being? Oh and the entire world views hijab as oppressive? Uh your opinion does not count as the “entire world” Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world okay.
NO they are not practicing Islam. They have taken a beautiful religion and perverted it to justify they’re own sick views. They have distorted and interpreted to their liking. So no Iran, Saudi Arabia and all the other countries forcing Islam on people, killing in the name of Islam, are not following islam.
Open up a book, and stop allowing western media to influence you because you have no idea what you’re talking about. Islam gives MORE rights to woman than other religion, educate yourself. This is religion of my mine is perfect, however humans are not.

Wow, what an insane conversation! Has this woman ever read the Koran? Does she know that fully one third of the text advocates for the murder or subjugation of the Kiffur? Does she know that the Koran, Hadiths and Surra NEVER SAID to put yourself in a body bag with barely the ability to peek out? What it did say was to dress modestly. What does that mean in the year 2016 vs. what it meant to the entire Islamic realm in 1960? What it doesn’t mean is to walk around like a f’ing ninja and it never did. Check the historic photos if you don’t think so.
I don’t know how old this commenter is but she needs to educate herself by going through photos of Islamic society just 50 short years ago… Were they any less pious than she is?
This woman is an ill informed victim of a political agenda and she doesn’t even know it.
It’s the same story over and over again; I don’t respect your culture but you damn well better respect mine (or else the men will become violent and you wouldn’t want that… )
The hijab, niqab and burka are all political statements. You are making an overt political statement not a pious surrender to God. If you want to “please your God” by being modest, throw your hair up into a baseball cap, that will also keep it covered up…
BTW, have you had your clitoris cut off yet? I suggest you make an appointment.
